Rioting students forced the autocratic Bangladesh prime minister (Mrs Hasina Wajid) to flee to India when the army refused to quell the rioters. Imran Khan's followers have already started advising the present Pakistani rulers to leave the country, apparently assuming that a repeat of their May 9 riots could overthrow the government. If at all it happens, it won't be due to them coming out on the streets (they are cowards) The only way it can be done is if the religious parties also indulge in massive protests. In 1977, the entire opposition came out on the streets and forced Gen Zia to overthrow Bhutto. Today, the two parties in power (the PPP and the PMLN) simply can't be forced to vacate, as they have won elections in three provinces (compared to only one-KP- where the PTI rules).
Another reason is that the present rulers have not yet been in power long enough to become unpopular. The religious party (Jamat-e-Islami) protesting nowadays in Islamabad wants electricity prices reduced, it has nothing against inflation. So far, the government has performed well, both in Punjab and Sindh, where the people are satisfied with it. Hasina Wajid ruled for fourteen years and her government was terribly corrupt, which is why the rioters were successful. Even her peon grew so rich that he was able to buy an aero plane for himself.
Only after the present Pakistani rulers become very unpopular for any reason would they be removed, but that too in a vote of no-confidence.
