CONTRADICTION: Two recent news reports in the national media have once again underlined the fact that those who rule over the hapless citizens of the country are not at all interested in solving their everyday problems. One of the two reports indicated an increase in electricity tariff by up to Rs7.50 per unit, while the other was about the decision to spend more than Rs3 billion to buy new cars for bureaucrats in Punjab. It takes a lot to be a common man in Pakistan. One has to constantly remind oneself that homicide is illegal and suicide is forbidden.
