The age of terror
This
refers to the article, ‘Leadership in the age of terror’ (December 23) by Ayaz
Amir. Sometimes it seems we can never win against the terrorists. Like when the
Sindh chief minister wants to buy another helicopter worth Rs1.6 billion for
his personal use (despite already having two). Or when we see police mobile
vans stationed outside provincial ministers’ residences. Or when we see police
mobiles escorting women and children shopping in Sunday Bazaar.
The biggest shock is to learn that contracts for the Lahore-Karachi motorway and the coal-fired power plants have been awarded to Saifur Rahman, an old friend of the prime minister. Now we understand why so many people in the country sympathize with the Taliban.
