Mr Yousuf Raza Gilani says that holding mid-term polls will break up the country. May I remind him that mid-term polls have taken place before, too, and the country did not break up. In fact, the only time such a thing happened was when we refused to recognise the winner of the 1970 elections.
The prime minister should realise that, to preserve the country, the ruling party should provide good governance, improve law and order, control inflation and eliminate poverty and corruption. It's a real pity that although these problems are staring him in the face, the prime minister and his party are determined to cling to power at all costs.
